Ermine, mink, fox and stoat–
you took their skin
but left their scent
buried it in perfume and cheap cologne–
The smell of civilization, that.
Do you think it will protect you–
Out here? In the wild?
Where you are all alone…
Oh! You precious child!
You pretty little sweet!
I can’t wait to pick you from my teeth.
I can hear the fear in your footsteps–
I can see you quickening your pace–
Oh yes! Oh my! Run, run, run, little human, run!
The fun is in the chase!
I can taste the honey of terror rolling off your back
as I close the ground between us
And sink my fangs into your neck–
snarling, slurping, growling, gurgling
grinding, tearing, gnashing, gulping
chewing, mawing, biting, gnawing
gobbling, gorging, crunching, clawing
BLEEDING
SCREAMING
C R A C K !
And still.
And in the stillness fades to black.
Deepest black.
Elegant.
