INKTOBER 2019: Day 11. Snow

What is man? What is snow? Can one not be both?

Frosty Pleads His Case

If you prick me, though I may not bleed—
Do you imagine that I do not have need
Of love and kindness and dignity?
I bid you, good sirs, grant me charity—

Though my cold heart does not beat,
Though my skin may melt from heat,
I know that I still have a soul—
I feel it deep in my snowy bones.

I’m not quite human it is true,
I may not be the same as you—
But upon my life I must insist,
That I’ve equal measure to exist.

By the very God that made you,
Grant me mercy, this I pray you,
If it be within your power to give–
I beg you, kind sirs, please let me live.

    1. Thanks. I almost tried that last winter. Wanted to put a Halloween decoration in a snowman….but after I bought the skeleton, I sort of became attached and didn’t want to leave it in the cold. I put garland on it and used it as a Christmas tree instead.

  1. A brilliant plea for us to love the inanimate , many do regret the loss of their old cars or furniture but the snowman has his time when it goes above freezing without us lifting a finger.
‘ What is man that Thou are mindful of him?’

  3. It’s way too tragic to anthropomorphize something that, in a day, will melt in a grotesque way and you can’t save it. It’s like something that preschoolers do. Every crumb you throw away, they get their heart broke.

Speaking of tragedy, I have now tagged you on my Sunshine Blogger post.
